The DIVAST Study

Discrimination, Neighborhood Vulnerability and Stress on Telomere Length in Black/African American Mother-Preterm-Infant Dyads

If you are Black/African American and your baby was born prematurely, you may be eligible to participate in our new research study. The purpose of this study is to better understand how racial discrimination and stress may change a mother and their infant’s genes.

Participation in this research will last approximately six months, with questionnaires taking about 30 minutes to complete at NICU discharge and the infant’s 8-12-month NICU follow-up clinic visit. Compensation includes a $20 Target gift card after you complete the two short surveys at NICU discharge and provide your home address. If you participate and complete the same two short surveys at your baby’s 8-12 month follow-up visit, you will be paid a $40 Target gift, for a total of $60.
